Critique
JD (2) 1. Unwin/Winter’s Morningcalm Who’s The Daddy. 15 month Korean Jindo of considerable promise and quality, agile and alert, blunt triangle of a head with definite stop and 2:3 proportions, oblique almond eye, forward inclined ears, arch to neck, can still fill in front but is absolutely straight, modest angles fore and aft, level with a bit of length as against height, moderate tuck up, hock well let down cat feet, sickle tail well set and carried, well coated, moderate strides with some vigour and lowered head carriage, he performed so well in the challenge to take Best Dog. 2. Balode/Emerson’s Nahuati Tenango Arena at Tamoanchan (imp MEX). 15 months, Xoloitzcuintle of a medium size and teeming with quality, athletic and muscled, immaculate wedge with defined stop and parallels, moderate angles, good to go over with width and depth, hare feet, tapered tail, quick and flowing action but with slight roach to top-line that will hopefully level out in outdoor conditions.
OD 4(2) 1. Cunningham’s Cracker of Yulyeong (imp KOR). 3 years Korean Jindo, one I have judged and critiqued before and continue to admire for his type, balance and agility, correct head proportions with developed cheeks, definite stop and straight muzzle, parallel front, moderate angles well put together with moderate tuck up, good coat, good tail carriage, always true on the move, Reserve Best Dog. 2. Unwin/Winter’s Morningcalm White Wizard at Snowtrekka (AI) ShCEx. 4½ years, white Korean Jindo, lovely headed as a a blunt triangle of 2:3 proportions and with ears inclined forward, very good pigment, ok in structure through to a high set, well carried sickle tail, coarse outer coat, just a little long and running narrow, particularly in front.
JB 1(0) 1. Unwin/Winter’s Liubice Diamante at Snowtrekka (AI). 13 months, white Korean Jindo, very promising, combines type with quality lines, excellent pigment, small oblique eye, correctly placed and carried ears, very good conformation without exaggeration being slightly longer than high, on the move she was both agile and true on excellent feet, just typically lean, consistent with her ‘puppyish’ age but all is present and correct ready for adulthood, the more I asked of her the more she gave, particularly in the final challenge to annex Reserve Best Bitch.
PGB 2(1) 1. Spry’s Tamoanchan Venus at Roltamshe. 4½ years, medium Xoloitzcuintle of obvious quality, combining sturdiness with elegance, feminine, tapering wedge head of correct proportions and planes, almond eye, long fine ears, good neckline, straight front, albeit rather weak at pastern, so well made in body with excellent skin condition, loved the spring in her step and high head and tail carriage whilst staying level.
OB 5(0) 1. Prince’s Sangre Caliente Amidala Padme (imp UKR). Bang on 2 years, standard Xoloitzcuintle of outstanding breed qualities, beautiful head, eye and ears that all combined to give such a regal look as though I was insignificant, so well constructed of 10:9 body proportions, firm front and pastern, can slim to advantage but still a sturdy athlete, breathtaking on the move with her long steps and high head and tail carriage, skin was in superb, warm to the touch, condition and she was muscled throughout, still young so should make her presence felt in representing the breed and the IBR at Group Level, Best Bitch and Best IBR (Utility). 2. Cunningham’s Yulyeong Legend of Zelda. 12 months 1 day, Korean Jindo, utterly feminine and utterly raw, feminine in head with a keen expression courtesy of her eye and ear, definite stop and straight muzzle, so well put together but all in ‘medium’ terms as per the breed standard, light and vigorous on the move that was true and with a a lowered Xoloitzcuintle head carriage as her pace increased, needs time for coat and maturity, will be interesting to see how her potential has turned out with another 12 months on her back, fingers crossed. 3. Spry’s Roltamshe Skye.
