  Critique

UTILITY. Yet again, I found consistency in type in this entry, particularly in the Xolos. JD (2) 1 Phillips’ Sangrereal Ringleader. The two Standard Xoloitzcuintles in this class were 9 months old litter brothers and there was not a lot to separate them. I am sure they will change places regularly. Both are quite strong in head but are balanced with the correct wedge shape and still have some elegance and refinement in that department. This chap is sturdily built and in firm condition with a chest of some depth already, level back, some cut-up to the loin, a rounded croup and muscled hindquarters. His expression was characteristic, he was interested and he moved soundly. His skin was in fine condition, firm and tight. Best Puppy. 2 Lord’s Sangrereal Criminal. I can only imagine how these 2 names were chosen! Everything I have said about Ringleader applies equally to Criminal. Both are very typy dogs. I nearly said that I was splitting hairs to divide the duo (bad pun) but this lad, while sound and straight was just a little less collected at the front to-day.
PGD (2) Thurston and Watson’s Liubice Donovan. Red Korean Jindo. A dog with a strong, masculine head of typical Spitz shape and construction. Everything is where it should be and the proportions are complementary, giving him a sharp, alert outlook. He is well put together, slightly longer than high, his back is straight, there is a good spring of rib and some cut-away from the flanks to the loin. He was very attentive, moved briskly and forcefully and his correctly textured coat was in good order. 2 Unwin and Winter’s Morningcalm Who’s The Daddy. A very balanced lad in a light cream coat, or what was left of it. He had lost just about everything and a lot of body with it, so looked rather light. He is, in fact, very typical with good body proportions and a head of medium size which complements his body. His head is appealing, wedge-shaped with flattish skull, sharp ears and dark brown almond-shaped eyes to give him a keen outlook. In a few months time when he fills out, he will look very different. A little careless at the front to-day.
OD (3) 1 Balode’s Bel Jun Ch Nahuati Tenango Arena At Tamoanchan (Imp) A flashy, impressive Standard Xolo who powered round the ring carrying himself proudly and demanding attention. At not yet 2, he is very mature and finished with sturdy construction, well-developed muscling and was in splendid condition, his skin soft and taut. I liked his outline on the stack, marginally longer than high with deep brisket, tight loin and some tuck-up. His head is very balanced and characteristic, he owns a broad skull with complementary muzzle proportions giving good balance. He can stand stretched at the back producing a slight slope to his top-line and care needs to be taken not to move him too fast or his front action suffers. A good quality dog nonetheless and I was happy to declare him Best Dog. 2 Unwin and Winter’s Morningcalm White Wizard At Snowtrekka. A very attractive Jindo, perhaps not quite in full coat but presenting a very balanced and typical picture overall. I appreciated his head qualities with balance between skull and muzzle, a noticeable stop, good ears carried firmly erect and correctly shaped dark brown eyes. He was in firm nick, held a level top-line standing and moving, there is some breadth to the chest, a decent spring of rib and his hindquarters are sufficiently angulated. He was steady on the move but did not quite put all in. Good dog who was Res. Best Dog. 3 Wright’s Sand Man, Xolo. JB (3,1) 1 Chambers’ Tamoanchan Nefertiti To Musique. Intermediate Xolo whose outline caught my eye. She stood with a slight dip behind her shoulders but otherwise, she was very characteristic in profile with a deepish chest, strong, short loin and gently rounded croup. She has muscle on her thighs and the hocks are well let down leading to good hare feet with some arch to the toes. The head is pleasing, balanced and feminine but I would like a slightly darker eye to tone with her coast colour. Moved steadily if a mite restricted at the elbows. 2 Creed and Cheatam-Cleaver’s Sheldobchi Olivia. Miniature Xolo of 12 months and still very much a baby and finding things a bit bewildering. Quite a balanced little girl with decent head properties and a sweet expression. Her construction is basically on correct lines but she was not entirely happy when the wind got cold, could not show herself off and her action suffered, especially behind. Both she and her handler need lots of time and experience.
PGB (4) 1 Barlow’s Chelsea Mia At Suenaengrand. Standard Xolo, pretty bitch, not entirely at ease to-day and did not use her ears all the time but she is a characteristic example with an appealing head, good eyes that might be a shade darker and well-carried ears. I thought her profile was very balanced and typical with correct ratios of height and length, good depth of brisket, a level back, some cut-up to the loin. Her skin was supple but close-fitting and was in grand condition. Moved steadily if a fraction restricted at the elbows but a bitch of quality who took Res. Best Bitch. 2 Thurston and Watson’s Liubice Dahlia. Red Jindo rising 2, litter sister to the Post-Grad winner. Rather light in condition to-day and perhaps not in her best frock so could look a whisker long. The ribs are carried quite well back but the loin is quite short, so I suspect she will look different with a little more time and coat. Overall, she is typical with the characteristic features of a Spitz-type head, a level back and moderate curve to the underline. 3 Cowie and Critcher’s Sangrereal China Girl At Itzdoble, Xolo.
OB (4) 1 Unwin and Winter’s Liubice Diamante At Snowtrekka. Another Jindo, not yet 2 and perhaps not entirely finished in body development but she is most attractive and typical, She could slacken off at times and lose crispness in front action but she was generally an attentive show girl who moved cleanly and convincingly. I liked her balanced head with good proportions, correct eyes, erect ears and interested expression. The side profile is very characteristic, enhanced by a decent coat, thicker in the neck area and heavier on the tail and the back of the thighs. Would have liked a little more forward curve to her tail to complete the picture but she is a bitch I rated highly and was pleased to award her Best IR. 2 Balode’s Otamisia Mirabella Iz Kanekso At Tamoanchan (Imp) Standard Xolo who was not making the most of herself and who was not quite so positive on the move at times but I thought her to be of a good standard and in a different frame of mind, she could make more of an impression. She showed a good side profile, since the fundamental structural features are present and she could actually hold herself well at various points. Her head is typical but I thought her just a little light in eye although her expression is still pleasing. She will have better days. 3 Spry’s Roltamshe Skye, Xolo.
